Description: Matcha is a finely ground powder made from specially grown and processed green tea leaves. Grown under shade to increase chlorophyll content and hand-picked with care, the leaves (known as Tencha) are de-stemmed and stone-milled using traditional granite wheels into an ultra-fine powder (5–10 microns). This Superior Grade Matcha is crafted for those who appreciate smooth, rich flavor and vibrant color—ideal for daily enjoyment.
Production Notes: Matcha is classified into different grades. This superior grade offers a balance of quality and value, making it well-suited for both traditional tea preparation and modern culinary use. Since the entire leaf is consumed, it delivers a full-bodied flavor and a naturally occurring blend of plant-based compounds.
Suggested Use: Enjoy matcha in tea, lattes, smoothies, or even in baking and desserts. Traditional Japanese tea preparation brings out its full character:
Classic Japanese Matcha Tea Preparation:
- Place approximately ½–1 tsp of matcha into a small hand sifter over a teacup or bowl
- Sift into the cup or bowl to avoid clumping (optional, but recommended)
- Add 2–3 oz (about ⅓ cup) of pre-boiled water (~180°F / 80°C)
- Using a bamboo whisk (or alternative), whisk briskly in an "M" or "W" motion to create a frothy top
- Gently whisk the surface to remove large air bubbles
- Add up to 6 oz of hot water to taste (optional)
- For a matcha latte, add milk or plant-based milk of choice
- Enjoy immediately!
Storage: Store in a cool, dark, and dry place. Exposure to light may fade the vibrant green color and affect quality.
